Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

4.5 rounded down

very well put together, LOVED the twists and turns.

was somewhat confused at the end… and why was there no trigger warning for the graphic rape scene? i advocate for all books to include trigger warnings. i’d rather risk being “spoiled” on a twist than trigger a panic attack. and also, why was the rape scene even necessary, and why doesn’t it show amber’s coping with that specifically?

would’ve been 5 stars, but i felt the ending wrapped up just a TAD too quickly. i would’ve just put in a bit more about how she’s healing and processing her trauma (including the RAPE??) rather than only telling us about her life at face value. does that make sense?

for the last bit - i am a bit confused about the bracelet. was it edward? also, wtf, if paul watched the assault happen over a camera why didn’t he give it to the police? or maybe he did and i missed it. idk. but is edward dead, or is he alive and stalking her still? is paul more sketch than presented? will there be a sequel?

overall great book, i have a few qualms about the end, but it’s worth the read!!
