I thought this was horror but I didn't expect to read historical fiction instead. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was enlightening to see how this young Filipina lead her life as an artist and pining for an Espanol while in the midst of a revolution. The story was mostly about her art and daily life, with whispers of the revolution in the background. Being a female artist was dicussed, but I wish we could've delve into that deeper along with being in love with an Espanol while the country was about to have a revolution. The present timeline part I find unnecessary.
