An Heir Comes to Rise by Chloe C. PeƱaranda

5.0

4.75 stars

I loved the world building, I thought the story was really interesting and unique in the sense that I don't think I've read about Nightwalkers before, or where Fae only have minimal abilities and there are rare forms possessing different magical abilities.

I enjoyed the found family elements of this book, the romance was predictable but I still really enjoyed it, but there were also plot twists you didn't anticipate and hiccups in the story that took you by surprise.

The reason this book gets 4.75 and not the full 5 stars is because there were times when I was reading the book and elements just didn't seem necessary and there were times where it took a bit too long to get to the point and move the plot along. I think the relationship and development between Nik and Faythe needed a bit more attention, I enjoyed how it started but I think it needed more explanation and more time to build. It seemed kinda sudden, and Nik's intrigue with Faythe never really seemed to be explained, he was too soft and curious too suddenly?

I really enjoyed seeing a strong female lead connect with another strong female character, and then finding out they're fated together as almost sidekicks to one another? Loved it. Need more books centered around strong female characters (either that or I'm not finding enough of them to read).

I can't wait to continue this story and see how Faythe reclaims herself and her power!
