The Kill Switch by James Rollins

4.0

A spin-off from Rollins' SIGMA books. Tucker Wayne is square-jawed and on a mission to save the world, like every hero in these man-smut books. However, Tucker's different and interesting in 2 ways: 1) he suffers from combat PTSD, thereby making him a little vulnerable and truly discomfitted when he kills someone, and 2) he has this great dog Kane with him on all of his adventures. This story featured not one, but two deadly (and beautiful, of course) female assassins, a brilliant but clueless scientist, a band of salt-of-the-earth South African brothers, and a horrific killing will-end-the-world-as-we-know-it ------- (wait for it...!) -------- plant. More fun than a barrel of monkeys.
