Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-Utopians, and the Hijacking of the American Conversation by Andrew Marantz

5.0

Fantastic read, I really liked the author's voice in this work, namely the dispassionate reporting of the circles he ran with in order to collect information for the book.

Started earlier this year by reading hard-line, deep journalistic books on the Trump Presidency, moved from that into extremism such as the Qanon cult, social media and its impact on society - and this is sort of a blend of the three topics - not so much in the sense that it goes into any great detail on the Trump Presidency, but more of a "behind-the-scenes" look at some of the key figures in the Alt-Light/Alt-Right movement and how social media helped (and in some ways is still helping) fuel their platforms/voice.

Highly recommend.
