I'm Glad My Mom Died, by Jennette McCurdy

dark emotional funny inspiring reflective sad fast-paced

4.5

Oh man. I had been a fan of iCarly when I was younger, so it was really heartbreaking to read Jennette's harrowing tale of what went on behind the scenes and how her mom pushed her into being a child actor (and the abuse that went with it). My heart truly breaks for her, but I'm so glad she is in a place where she can tell her own story in her own words. This book was very readable, switching between dialogue and Jennette's inner monologue (which makes sense stylistically, given her background in screenwriting). She highlights vignettes from her life, starting from when she was little, to weave together her story.
