Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon

4.0

Don’t be fooled by this fun cover and YA storyline- this is a hit-you-in-the-feels kind of book.

First we have a girl- she’s cynical after the divorce of her parents. Then we have a guy- he’s a “yes” man open to life and love. You can already guess what happens when they are paired for a dance competition.

What you can’t guess are all the little intricacies throughout this story. While the main plot intentionally follows quintessential romance tropes, we also explore cynicism, hurt, fear, loss, and the value of living in the moment. This books reads very YA (young adult), but the message is for everyone. Perfect when paired with an early morning with coffee in bed- can’t get cozier than that. 4 ⭐️
