Spice Hierarchy: Open Door
Dr. Nick Raines is head of Neurology at St. Luke’s Hospital and will be staring in an upcoming TV series. Charlotte Hollis has moved back to NYC and has a job as a headhunter tasked with convincing Nick to move to LA. Nick won’t move far away from his daughter but gains Charlotte as a girlfriend. Everything is going well for both of them until their pasts and presents meet and impact their future.
I remembered Nick’s daughter (Lexi) and her mom from Winnie’s story (Scoring the Billionaire-not necessary to enjoy this, just making that connection). Nick needed a redemption story and he gets it here. I loved that Nick was given the chance to put his daughter first and he takes advantage of that, even at the risk of his own happiness. The banter between Nick and Charlotte as well as their inner monologues are the laughs needed to carry you through the heartbreak they both experience. I was not prepared for that nice little twist with Charlotte’s past and Nick’s present. This was honestly my favorite in this series.
The audio was fantastic from both Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. Anytime they are together, it’s audio gold.
