jesus god this book frustrated me but somehow i was really into it?? all of the characters made such bad decisions and were such bad friends to each other i simply did not know how they stood each other at all! magnolia and bj… just. god. how they managed to make that seem like they were both equally bad i won’t understand. bj was just the worst person alive i think. i could not stand him at all. genuinely wished that the author would pull a fast one on us and have her end up with tom. please come back tom the kids miss you!!! also the writing style didn’t do a lot for me, and a lot of the really dramatic phrases about love and how many loves do you get got a bit old and slightly cringe. honestly a lot of this book was just repeating cycles — magnolia and bj start in a good place, almost get back together, she finds him with someone else, they fall apart again, and rinse and repeat. how many times can she run out of hotels crying about him?? and the end was just. ugh i do need to read the rest bc unfortunately i am invested now even with how annoying everyone is. so i suppose the book did succeed at being somewhat interesting in the end.
