Slow Days, Fast Company: The World, the Flesh, and L.A.: Tales by Eve Babitz

5.0

A collection of various sketches of L.A in the late 60s and 70s, Eve Babitz’s writing is witty, sharp, effortless; simultaneously glamorous and nonchalant. At times this felt almost like reading my own journal- or rather, what I would write, if I were more vivacious, more eloquent, and living a colourful Hollywood life, full of cocktail parties with Marlon Brando and LSD. This is really a love letter to Los Angeles, the kind that can only really be written by a native. Captivating from start to finish
