The Duke in Question by Amalie Howard
Did not finish book. Stopped at 70%.
I read and really enjoyed two of Amalie Howard's newer releases (Any Duke in a Storm and The Worst Duke in London) and decided to jump into her back catalog with this book.
Unfortunately, it just didn't land for me and I eventually gave up. While I don't object to insta lust as a tool to set up the book, it becomes grating when I don't like the characters or their chemistry.
I think the author wrote characters with flaws but not complexity I empathized with? I ended up frustrated that Bronwyn was impulsive and failed to plan around her own limitations. And Valentine just seemed overbearing a lot of the time which gave me the ick.
This wasn't an issue in her newer books - I think she's just growing as a writer. I may or may not try another read form Amalie Howard's back list, but I'll definitely pick up anything new she writes.
