This was pretty decent.
Overall, it's just a procedural police/mystery novel.
What sets this apart from most of the others is not just the location, but how the author builds the tension.
I've always associated horror with winter and blizzards. It's the similar sense of isolation and feeling of being trapped in a situation you have no control over. This author uses the remoteness of this small town in Iceland, and the weather of it as a mechanism to build tension and set the mood for the story, and he does it very effectively.
Now I just have to get the rest of the series. I'm currently 3/6 right now.
