The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

4.0

Massive in both size and scope, this historical fiction epic traces the building of a fictional English cathedral through the eyes of various interested parties. Vivid characters, realistic portrayals of life in the 1100s, and crystal-clear description of cathedral construction all weave together into one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read this year.

(I’ve published a longer review on my website.)
