I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

challenging dark emotional funny reflective fast-paced

5.0

This book grabbed me by the throat and would not let me go. I tried talking with my own mother about this book today, just before finishing the last 97 pages; she took the chance to tell me how praiseworthy she was for not having me get into child acting. The struggles between McCurdy and I are completely different, yet I felt heard reading her story.

This book is hilarious and tragic and reflective in equal spades and oftentimes at whiplash speeds. It's one I'll be looking to add to my own private bookshelf as soon as possible, so that I can say to guests visiting me and perusing the shelves, "What? You never read this book? Here, you have to borrow it."
