The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

5.0

It only gets better with each read; fun, intelligent, and filled with the pure magical genius of Tolkien. It is a lighthearted precursor to the Trilogy, making it interesting in how its tone differs from that of the Trilogy's. It also performs well as a stand-alone novel that can be enjoyed by readers of any age.
