Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

I don't think this book was written for me. There's a sort of breathlessness that I just couldn't get past. It's a little too cute for the material and seems like it trys a little too hard. There's this disjointedness of depicting despicable acts and a sort of show-theater type description of those events. It doesn't work for me.

It's not that this is a bad book, I am sure there are tons of people who would enjoy it way more than me. There are undoubtedly those who feel this book is profound and helpful in magical ways. It's just that half way through I found myself thinking for the fourth or fifth time "you know, I could be reading something better right now." So eventually I went and listened to that thought.
