The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp

This was everything I wanted it to be and more, honestly. The writing was amazing - it was funny, fast paced and I loved the way the story was told. I liked that it was a book within a book. The unreliable narrator tropes plus the mixed media style was fantastic and I enjoyed that so much. The added parts to the end of chapters gave the story extra layers and I really did question what to believe. It was a mix of a horror and a mystery; it was definitely both scary and mysterious. Jack was… a lot. He was very complex - unlikeable and annoying but also funny. I didn’t believe him most of the time and the author did such a good job of writing him. He had a lot of personality, both good and bad. I do think he grew throughout the book… sort of. The plot actually went in a direction that I wasn’t expecting. It was a lot more complicated and deeper than I anticipated, which I loved. It was genuinely creepy at some points and so weird. It got pretty graphic too. There was a lot going on: ghosts, demons, possession and more. Somehow, it all came together and I loved how it ended. It was a great twist even if I did kind of see it coming. I just absolutely loved this book.
