Love Redesigned by Jenny Proctor

3.0

This was the first time I have listened to a rom com audiobook and I liked it but I didn’t love it. I think I personally prefer to read rom coms so I can decide for myself what the characters sound like.

I enjoyed that they have a female reading for Dani and a male reading for Alex.
Their southern accents are really cute. You can hear the southern drawl and still understand clearly what they’re saying.
I think I would’ve liked it better if the voice actors read for their own character throughout the whole book instead of voicing all the characters and switching off chapters. But that’s just my preference.

The story was cute. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I hadn’t listened to it and had just read it. The romantic lines felt cheesy when read by a narrator. But I liked the fashion designer twist, I haven’t read a book with that plot line before and thought it was fun.

The family drama was interesting especially since the main characters come from wealthy families. Because their families are wealthy the drama didn’t feel very relatable. I thought it was commendable that Dani wanted to earn her keep and work hard to become a designer based on her merit and not her connections, but if she hadn’t let her pride get in the way she wouldn’t have been under Sasha’s thumb in the first place.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters and couldn’t relate to their challenges. Which could partially be blamed on the fact that I listened to it instead of reading it.

Overall I thought it was a cute clean rom com, I liked the southern charm and the fashionista aspect, but had a hard time connecting with the characters and didn’t care for the family drama.
