Star Wars: Han Solo by Marjorie Liu

4.0

This was an enjoyable read and very quick. If you are a fan of Han Solo and Star Wars you should pick this up. If you are looking for something to advance the story between Episodes IV and V this isn't going to do that for you. This is more side mission its not essential reading but its like icing on the cake. I have been a fan of Marjorie Liu's since I read her X-23 run awhile back. This book is supposed to serve more as a character study in what motivates Han Solo to act that way he does. I liked this book for what it adds to greater lore of the universe not really for the story. I always like seeing new creatures added to the universe U'il Dorae, and Loo Re Anno are great additions. I like U'il because when I first saw her in panel I thought the book was bringing Black Sun which I am still wanting if you know, you know. Dorae might look out of place to some as a creature in the Star Wars Universe but with her standing next to Chewy it just works and remember Jaxxon is an old established character. Loo Re Anno is probably my favorite character of the book I really enjoyed Han Solo's chats with her while they are racing. There are some nice character moments between Leia and Han which might hint at things to come in Episode V in retrospect. The other racers participating the Dragon Void are kind of generic I can't say they're anything special but hey you can't have a Star Wars story without some Twi'leks. Overall if you just want to see more additions to the ever expanding universe this is for you.
