This was a brilliant, moving, sad piece of writing. Kaminsky creates an eerie, timeless scene for this narrative collection of poems, that provides a backdrop for an exploration of human cruelty, suffering, and resilience that could be set a hundred years ago, or today. Read if you are prepared to grapple with deep questions of personal responsibility in the face of horror.
