yeah one of the best romcoms i’ve ever read and it holds up. i DEVOURED this when i was in high school and loaned my copy to everyone i knew and now it is well-loved. and well-loved it continues to be because the revisiting was even better than the original read. so clever, so sweet. rainbow rowell has one of those writing styles that just sticks with you. it’s so funny and zingy and effortless. her characters are unique without being “quirky” in an annoying way. her characters are Real and Smart and Emotional and Funny. i love the depiction of female friendship here. i love jennifer’s battle with motherhood. i love beth’s battle with an inadequate relationship. i love lincoln coming into his own. i love all the denim. it is so good. it glides. you just want to whiz through. if you love nora ephron and emily henry and gilmore girls, this is for you.
