Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult

2.0

Her debut novel is not one of my favorites. From the beginning I wasn't sure about it, and I was waiting for some really good twist. Things happened, but I'm not sure I really connected to it. The structure was great, but the only thing it left out was the very end, and that wasn't all that shocking or surprising. This one also didn't revolve around a trial like most of the rest of her novels do. I liked the technique she used, but the story sort of fell flat. It did get to me, though, because I don't like the choice Jane made. It just felt like everyone had his/her life ripped apart. Sad stuff.
