there's a lot about this book which makes it a surprising candidate for my favourite of the series (the sex montage, mabel's storyline, theta and her powers, jericho being so horny all the goddamn time, all the deaths, how many characters there are) but also this is a book about bearing witness to and remembering the ghosts of marginalized people who america has repeatedly thrown under the bus to support the myth of linear progress. literally the only way to let the dead rest is to let them grieve and to acknowledge the generational and cultural trauma their ancestors have to live with. libba bray's MINDÂ
