Sigh, Gone: A Misfit's Memoir of Great Books, Punk Rock, and the Fight to Fit In by Phuc Tran

4.0

I really enjoyed this memoir. The author is one year younger than me so much of it resonated with me culturally and pop-culture wise. I was also a young punk so it was interesting to read how this identity helped him in certain ways. I have read several books by Vietnamese and Vietnamese American authors - both fiction and memoir and I have so much respect for the incredibly hard journey it must have been to escape their home country and then try to find a place in the US. Listening to veterans reminisce must have been surreal. There's humor and insight mixed into this memoir.
