The Bhagavad Gita According to Gandhi by Mahatma Gandhi

4.0

I read this book as part of a seminary class. For this class, even though this line-by-line commentary includes Gandhi's own translation of the Gita, I had to also read Barbara Stoler Miller's translation of the Gita. I appreciated the opportunity to compare the translations. I also of course appreciated Gandhi's commentary on the Gita. I think that reading Gandhi's commentary helped me to gain a small amount of insight into how modern day practitioners of Hinduism understand this text. (I say small amount because I realize that as important as Gandhi is that he does not "speak for" the incredible diversity that exists among the more than one billion adherents to the Hindu tradition. Would recommend!
