Under the Dome by Stephen King

5.0

This was an absolute winner for me in terms of realistic horror. I am a sucker for the Lord of the Flies-esque stories where people away from society go feral against each other, and King does it so well. I am a pretty prolific reader, and I think I'd have to say that Jim Rennie is one of the most diabolical villains I've met. The amount of sway that evil man had was terrifying. As someone who came into my own political during the Bush/Cheney regime of terror, I saw those parallels pretty clearly.

This book was massive, but it kept my full attention the entire time. I was on edge with every new, horrible thing happening in that godforsaken town. Whew! I am taking a small break from King to read a few romance holds that came in, but I am looking forward to continuing my King read-a-thon.
