As much as I adore the world this is set in, I more enjoy it for the possibilities it gives the reader to make their own characters and ideas than the actual canon of it. This book has amazing art, but like most of Way’s writing, it’s confusing and irritating. Also like most of Way’s writing, there are themes it attempts to tackle and fails.

Also worth mentioning is the blatant orientalism. with the mega-corporation being slathered with “Asian Aesthetics” and the leader of said corporation being a “Sexy asian Woman.”

This story is ok, but any positives are quickly outweighed by mediocrity and racism.
