Daphne Du Maurier has a great ability to leave you on edge and wonder what is going on. At times, you wonder if Phillip is just jealous of Rachel and that is the reason for his dislike, or if there is something nefarious going on. As he falls in love, you get more suspicious. I have my opinion about Rachel. I’m happy about the ending even though the question of her innocence or guilt is never definitively answered. This was a good book, but I liked Rebecca more.
Graphic: Adult/minor relationship
Moderate: Death
