Educated by Tara Westover

challenging dark emotional inspiring medium-paced

3.75

Quite an incredible journey of Tara Westover's road to gaining an education, and escaping the seemingly impossible trap of the only life she had ever known on the mountain.

This story was so gripping, and so insane at times I couldn't quite believe this was a memoir.

What a brave story to tell, and braver that she had to live through it first.

On a final note I have to say that there are more than a few moments in the story that feel unbelievable or where the truth feels a bit stretched. I also believe that this memoir is an experience of Tara's version of events which is clearly affected by trauma and possibly selective memories by no fault of her own, and so I therefore believe this series of events to be true in Tara's memory.
