I loved the alternating current day POV alongside the second person past tense journal entries. I loved the MC’s daughter. I loved the second third of the book. The parallels between real life and the constantly-referenced comic book-turned-movie franchise added the icing on the cake. So why not five stars then? Because I really had to push myself through the first 30-40% of the book and didn’t relate to or feel empathy for the MCs until the last 30% of the book. While I enjoyed it in retrospect, I wish it had reeled me in and captivated me sooner.
This is a quintessential example of second chance romance, so if that’s your thing, I recommend that you read it.
