This was a great short listen. It’s a middle grade book about a boy named Castle who finds a home on a city track team. His life is hard. His dad is in prison, he gets made fun of at school for living in a poor neighborhood, and he has a lot of anger that leads to a lot of fights. One day he sees a track team practicing and challenges them to a race. The coach asks him to join then team and Castle finds his way. I ran city track in middle school. It’s the best sport filled with the best people. Suffering through long runs with people creates wonderful friendships. Running and the community of runners where I live is a huge part of my life, and it all started in middle school cross country.
