The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang
4.0
I mainly listened to this on audio and I want to state that because typically when I do so, it results in me not being super immersed in a world. HOWEVER this book seems to have been an exception.
This book had a slow start. And I mean a SLOW start. But once it picked up and once I, the reader, really committed to it, I was very quickly immersed in the world and became invested in the characters and their wellbeing. I could see and feel it all and it was, for lack of better words, magical.
I was warned about the ending and that it would feel like a set up for another book even though this a standalone but I still found myself, in a way, frustrated. I loved it and I hated it. I want to know MORE but I’ll never get to.
Overall, I really enjoyed this world and its characters. It was a pleasure having my feelings hurt by this story and author!
