The City & The City by China MiƩville

3.0

This book is a strange cross between sci-fi and crime fiction.
It's also a book of rules about how to live and run two cities in the same place. Mieville isn't an author I'd normally read but this book was recommended to me. It doesn't get too weighed down with the "how" questions, and I was intrigued by the mysterious breach.
The murder that kicks everything off kind of takes a back seat to the intricate layout and histories of Beszel and Ul Qoma; one is sort of Eastern European and one is sort of Middle Eastern.
A really interesting concept.
