The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie

3.0

I enjoyed the book.

But lets start with what I did not like:-

~But I think the murder in itself was a little over complicated. That is nit something i've seen in her later works. And it was honestly annoying to some extent. I don't think the suspects were fleshed out enough or that there were enough red herrings.

~The general Hercule Poirot clues were present at convenience. It was a little messy.

It wasnt Death on the nile(Though I knew the murder even before the murder happened, I still enjoyed the setting and the lush writing. I think its some of the best writing by agatha ) or Murder of roger ackroyd , which are my favourite Agatha Christie novel. But it was still good.

Fun parts:-

~Agatha Christie is always fun

~I appreciated the nature of the commentary on women by the narrator which was undoubtedly a satirical view of the male gaze. The narrator's commentary on women in the story, other men and typically his intelligence and diplomacy were very ironical and satirical and I was able to enjoy the story wholeheartedly because it was just so fun to watch Mr. Hastings suffer.
