i liked this one MUCH better than the other two but perhaps that’s because things seemed to actually happen(?) like the whole relationships unravelling as alexander develops into something new, something they don’t like, and how alexander’s role as the king forces him to break relationships that do tear at him. one thing i’ve noticed, that i picked up in the first book and was hesitant on, was that alexander’s pov is barely ever seen and in this, manfredi tells his story through the eyes of those around him. it mythologises him that much more.
this was better than the others, easier to read and just generally more interesting
