the frame story -esque format of this book encompasses deep-dives into the lives of four different patrons of the café. within those smaller time-travel stories the seemingly passing characters come to life, although the development arc for each is quite predictable, as this is (by my understanding) meant to be an uplifting book. positive psychology on the possibility and meaning of traveling through time.
