Here in Avalon by Tara Isabella Burton

5.0

Entering Here in Avalon is like crossing the bridge between sleep and waking. This novel has a very special and unique atmosphere, expanded by Tara Isabella Burton’s extraordinary writing skills. Her world building dives the reader deep into the Twilight Realm where everything is possible.

Everything begins with two sisters. At first sight, they seem really different from one another : Cecilia is a dreamer, incapable of focusing on serious life matters. Rose is engaged, focusing on work. And one day, Cecilia disappears. Rumor has it that a mysterious floating cabaret is taking people away, never to be seen again. The Avalon is at the center of the story : the mystery hovers over the ship and its inhabitants. Are they not humans as many suggest ?

The magic is on every page, led by the enigmatic Morgan. This novel is described as a modern fairytale and I can certainly see why. I was immediately enchanted by the story, caught in the net of the Avalon.
