... This felt like a slightly misogynistic fever dream. It was so fast paced that I had a lot of struggles following this messy plot. It felt like no scene got more than like three pages and SO MANY THINGS happend in such quick succession. What was even going on half of the time?? (I mean, I did kind of get it, but it felt like there were scenes missing. And how was there love involved?? When were we supposed to get invested in anything??) Idk, this was A LOT.
I wanted to read this, because I stumbled upon the opportunity to get the first 8 volumes for free and remembered watching fan edits of the anime on YouTube when I was 12 or something. Sadly, this was very confusing. I think I'll continue to read it, bc I still want to know why people love it so much - and I do like mermaids. (And bc I already own 8 volumes and want to reduce my physical tbr.)
