Having not read any reviews before cracking this one open, I was completely unaware of how quirky the main character (and narrator) would be.
For the first couple of chapters I was a little annoyed by her rattle-on narration (think Anne Shirley meets Amelia Bedelia) but it quickly became obious that Molly likely sits somewhere on the spectrum and her neurodivergent tendencies began to make sense. Also, her language is extremely proper, having been raised by her very proper Grandmother, which only made her character that much more quirky.
Most middle 20 somethings do not speak as Molly does...which combined with her loyalty and beautiful heart made her impossible not to love. I also didnt expect this book to be as funny as it was!
It was great to see the world through Molly's lense, and how humour or sarcasm wasn't always obvious to her, and how she would take so many things literally....like I said, an adult Amelia Bedelia; nfriendsot something I expected in a murder mystery.
