Touching Darkness by Scott Westerfeld

3.0

I liked this book, I did enjoy but I still felt a little disappointed with it. I'm not sure exactly what it is, maybe it's just because there's a cliff hanger and I don't have the next book, or maybe it felt a little short.

Things I liked:
The relationship between Jess and her sister is starting to seem like an actual relationship with Beth as an actual character rather than just a person in the background.
The history around 'midnight'and the last 50 or so years being revealed.
How the characters aren't all shown to be friends, but rather different people who have to get a long because of certain circumstances that have put them together
Revelations about characters pasts.

It's also darker in general, which I prefer. It makes the idea of midnight with it's darklings seem much more... real, in a way. It shows that things that people do have real consequences and it also gives a better atmosphere to the story. It makes it much more intriguing and a better read in general.
