When the movie came out, I really enjoyed it so I knew I would want to read the book. What I wasn't expecting was for the book to be SO DIFFERENT. But not in a bad way! One of my favorite things about the book, that the movie just couldn't do, is how much insight it gave us into the lives of the side characters. This book was really about the lifestyle of the rich and how gray all of them are as characters. I really liked all of the characters, even the evil ones because I felt that they were quite complex and extremely interesting. The only issue I had was how slowly paced the book was. This might be due to the fact that I saw the movie before reading, but I think the book was really slow for most of it and then the last 40 pages FLEW by. The wedding didn't even happen until page 300!
Overall though, I think this was a highly enjoyable book. I listened to the audiobook as well, and I really think that it added to the enjoyability factor for me.
I would 100% recommend the book to anyone who enjoyed the movie. Though there are a lot of differences, I think reading the book adds a very interesting and new insight into the world of the crazy rich asians.
Can't wait to read book 2! I hear that it is all about Kitty Pong~
