I haven’t read a book this steeped in trauma since A Little Life. However, any direct comparisons to that book would be a discredit. I honestly feel uncomfortable reviewing a book deeply centered in the lives experiences of so many people. But I think the important point is, this is beautifully written. The characters are so well drawn. This read is just as important as it is fulfilling. I highly recommend going into this somewhat blind in terms of plot but CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS.
Graphic: Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Terminal illness, Police brutality, Trafficking, Suicide attempt, Death of parent, and Abandonment
Minor: Drug use
