This book has magic. I have aphantasia, and it’s not as complete since ketamine therapy, but it’s still like a 4 (if zero is darkness and ten is photographic). But every time I picked this one up I was transported. I could feel the ice, and I could see the fur.
My feelings about the story itself are… complicated. I have a feeling I’ll be thinking of it for a while before I sort out what I really feel about it.

Graphic: Animal death, Death, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Violence, and War
Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Sexual content and Suicide
CW: animal death note regarding the pack: The 4 primary character animals (dogs/wolf-dogs) all die, but with kindness &/or dignity.
CW: sexual assault note: In addition to various descriptions of SA including real time assault of the MC, there is discussion of SA from a remorseful rapist’s perspective. There is also an averted father/daughter SA early on.
