The Black Key by Amy Ewing

3.0

Can we start with how annoying Violet was at the beginning of this book? I get that she has superpowers so she should be the one running towards the danger but doesn't mean no one else can. You're not the only one who can take risks for the ones you love.

This book was filled with so many rash and stupid decisions I nearly threw the book at the wall. Its like the characters stopped thinking logically and just 'went with the flow'

And I also hated how the last few chapters were written. Its like the author didn't take as much time with them as she did the first ones. Everything was jumbled up and squished together. All of the deaths were crammed in like one chapter or something and its like Violet took one minute for that person's death to settle before she runs off only to find someone else dying. But the thing is, the fight wasn't even that great. I thought it'll something huge and all that but it was pretty disappointing to say the least.

Now that we settled that, let's talk about how much Violet matured and grew up from the first book. She has honestly impressed me. Of course she still has some flaws as any other human being but she still became a true leader. One who makes rash decisions but who people could look up for guidance.

Usually the last books of the series are my favorites but in this case I'd have to go with [b:The Jewel|16068780|The Jewel (The Lone City, #1)|Amy Ewing|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1392220609s/16068780.jpg|21861160] and this one is the last.

Please keep in mind that these are only my opinions and I didn't mean to offend anyone by what I said. We are all different people and we all have different opinions in any matter.
