Fifty Words for Snow by Nancy Campbell

5.0

I loved this book.

I learned so much about languages I hadn't heard of, discovered the origins of traditions, myths, foods, and words, some of which I'd never come across and some of which I'm very familiar with, and I delighted in the way Campbell artfully weaves countless links between language and nature, meteorology and culture.

A beautiful book that's spent over a year on my shelf, but the week of frozen snow and glittering frost we've just experienced in the UK was the perfect time to pick it up and lose myself in fifty faces of this enchanting phenomenon.
