Thanks to author Rachel Griffin, Sourcebooks Fire, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I was a big fan of The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC for Bring Me Your Midnight.
Witch Tana Fairchild has a perfectly planned life. As the daughter of the coven leader, she has been promised to marry the non-witch governor’s son since the moment she was born. This union will solidify the relationship between the witches on her island and the humans on the mainland who fear magic. She is content with this arrangement and hopeful that the marriage will help the mainlanders view the witches in a more favorable light.
Then she meets Wolfe, a boy from a hidden coven practicing a strong, dark magic Tana has been taught to fear. She is forced to wrestle with her duty to the coven and her own heart’s desires. What to choose?
I loved this book. Tana and Wolfe are such good characters. There were moments that I didn’t see coming, so I was kept on my toes! I loved Tana’s development over the course of the story. It’s so easy to get swept up in Tana’s life and root for her. She is a smart, thoughtful character. And Wolfe is so intriguing. Since the story is told from Tana’s POV, the reader gets to learn about Wolfe along with her and it’s so fun.
The magic was another highlight of the book! It was so well-developed. The descriptions of spells and the way Tana does her magic were so beautiful. There were moments that had me on the edge of my seat, despite the stakes being fairly low for a fantasy book. I didn’t want to put it down!
Bring Me Your Midnight is a stand-out YA novel
