Yerba Buena has some heavy themes for a new adult book. It is raw, vulnerable and emotional. One of the main characters is dealing with loss and self discovery. The other is dealing with unique family dynamics while trying to become the woman she wants to be. Not a beach read but one designed to allow the reader to gain empathy. The themes of trauma, complicated emotional baggage, and family relationships run throughout the novel. It was one of my favorite reads of 2023!
