Bone Crier's Moon by Kathryn Purdie

3.0

I remember seeing someone rave about this fantasy on Bookstagram and adding it to my wishlist ages ago. When I saw it at Book Outlet, I decided to go e it a go.

Ailesse is a bone crier and determined to collect her final grace from a tiger shark. For each of the three animals she must kill, she collects their keen attributes. After collecting the three, she'll be able to play the bone flute and attract her amoure to her, kill him, and finally achieve her goal of ferrying the dead to either heave or hell. After all, a bone Crier's life is nothing but sacrifice. Bastien is bound and determined to kill as many of Aliesse's kind as he can, after all it was a bone crier that killed his father and left him a homeless, thieving orphan. Together with his friends, they devise a plot to kill a bone crier and finally get revenge. But will he be able to resist the pull of the woman in white?

This was good, but too stretched out. At times I could swear it was a lot of detail happening in one night, but it was over the course of a month. It all just sort of blurred together. I don't think I'll read the second in the duology.
