Honestly so disappointed. I read the book of lost things at the start of the year whe I found the 10 year anniversary in the library and loved it. Was excited to hear a sequel was coming out.
But it was just a bit of a let down. As a book it was ok, but as a sequel it was unnecessary and honestly a slog to read. Found myself skim reading by halfway through as I was determined to not DNF it.
My favourite part was the word (mainly old English) and meaning at the start of the chapters, I think I will write them down before returning the book to library as they were fun and some words I would like to use when the occasion calls.
While this is still a fairy tale, and well written at that, for me the lack of regular interspersions of tellings of traditional fairy tales (like the first book has) is what let this down. Overall it was just a slow paced fairy tale that could have been half its length and just sadly did not hit the mark for me.
