Batman: Ego and Other Tails by Darwyn Cooke

4.0

This book was brought to my attention after the announcement last year of the new Batman movie. The director, Matt Reeves, had mentioned that Ego was one of the comic book inspirations for the film. This book collects that story from the late great, Darwyn Cooke, as well as some other stories he wrote and some that he also did the artwork for. Ego was a great read showing us the two splits of Batman. The Batman and Bruce Wayne. It tackles the identity crisis between the two and who truly is the real persona. Cooke does it with very clever story telling. You then get a pretty fun Catwoman story and some other short stories featuring the caped crusader. I really like the story 'Deja Vu' with artwork by Bruce Timm and obviously written by Cooke. It kinda has an old school horror method of story telling. All around it's a very fun read. I read this digitally but I am for sure picking up this up for the stunning artwork and fun stories.
